Behind Every Successful Man...
Well, you would need to have been hiding under a rock to not know about the momentous and historical event that took place a few weeks ago - "Yes He Did"! However, given that this is Sheroes, we are of course going to look at this from a female perspective. Which leads us neatly onto "Damn Michelle - your man is fine!!!"But seriously, we should not underestimate the role that Michelle played in this story of hard work, determination and hope. Much is being made of the fact that Michelle is accomplished in her own right and whilst we all face our own challenges in life, we should take inspiration from her. She has a strong marriage, two beautiful children, a career and has been recognised for the hard work and her contribution to her husband's success.
There were also two other women who played a significant role in this story - his mother and grandmother. So here we have the first African-American President of the United States who could NOT have done this without the unconditional love, support and belief of three really strong women.
So as a Sheroe - a strong, focused and determined woman, what can you take from this example? How are you using your power? Who are you influencing? Just think for a moment - you have the potential to be a powerful force so what are you doing about it? And imagine what impact you could have by working together with other women - sisters, mothers, friends - Sheroes?
Remember, behind every successful man (or woman) there is a team of great women!
Sheroes Nights In / Sheroes Nights Out
In 2009, Sheroes will be running a series of events entitled "Sheroes Nights In/Sheroes Nights Out". For our "Sheroes Nights In", we want to encourage you to widen the Sheroes network. Why not invite a group of friends round with a dish or some nibbles and pick a subject to talk about. Debate the hot topic grabbing the headlines, e.g. was it right to sack Carol Thatcher; are parents really too selfish...discuss! and have some fun catching up with each other. Don't forget to tell them to join Sheroes. Better still, we are pleased to announce that we have set up a new Sheroes Social Network, so you can chat, blog and socialise with other Sheroes online...go on have your say! Let us know what you think and look out for further developments. For our "Sheroes Nights Out", we'll be doing a number of things. Some will be social, some will be informative...all will be inspiring. To kick us off on Saturday 28th March 2008, Sheroes have teamed up with Vibes GQ the host of RARE @ The Apt Bar (Aldermary House, 10-15 Queen Street, London, EC4N 1TX). This is an upmarket City venue with all the luxuries you'd expect - cloakroom, two bars, private areas and a reason to dress up. We're inviting you to join us in our very own VIP area at the special members rate of £7 (instead of the usual £10-15). To be eligible for this rate, you must register your details on the Sheroes website prior to ordering. For tickets email julie@sheroes.co.uk or call 07925 184199. Further information to follow closer to the date.
We also wanted to highlight Kimo's Wine Bar in Stoke Newington (184 Stoke Newington High St, London, N16 7JD) . If you are looking for a Friday night boogie look no further. Kimo's is a really good place to set your mood for the weekend. The music is varied so whether you like Old Skool, R'n'B, Funky House or you're a secret Dancehall Queen - they play a little something for everyone.
And the best bit is that it only cost £5 to get in, so in these times of credit crunch this makes for an affordable night out with your Sheroe's clan! Dress code is smart but casual and the raving age is over 25 so you feel like you are raving with adults! Your host on the night is our partner Vibes GQ , so he'll definitely ensure that you have a good time!

Looking for work requires a great deal of effort and energy as well as motivation. So why not look at this as an opportunity to try something new!Ask yourself some simple questions: What skills do I have? Can I apply them differently? Can I get new skills? Where can I go for help?
